WHY IT MATTERS

The Bible gives us the Answer

We are all "sinners" and separated from God

Everyone who sins breaks God's law. We all have sinned. No one is righteous.  (Romans 3:10, 23; 1 John 3:4)

We are condemned because of our sin

Because of our sin, we deserve death and are condemned.  (Romans 6:23; John 3:18; Ephesians 2:3)

Jesus Christ, who was sinless, took our place

God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we are sinners, Jesus Christ died for us. (Galatians 1:4; Galatians 3:13; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

Trust Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation

(2 Corinthians 5:17, 21; 1 John 5:12; John 3:16-17

WHAT TO BELIEVE

Christ is Savior

First

What To Believe?

Jesus claimed of himself, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except by me" (John 14:6). This claim requires one to be reminded that Jesus is declaring that there are no other faiths, no other truths, or no other ways to God the Father, except him alone.  Therefore, the belief that so long as you are a "good person" is what matters when we stand before God after we die. This belief is challenged by Jesus and he is saying that is a false belief. Jesus is declaring only by him will you be saved by God.  Jesus is saying that he alone is the only Savior for humanity.

According to Jesus, he is not one way of many ways to God, but he is the one and only way. No person, regardless of achievement, goodness, or reputation, can come to God the Father except through Jesus.

Jesus presented himself as the object of faith (Matthew 7:21–27). He said that his words are life (John 6:63) and he promised that those who believe in him will have eternal life (John 3:14–15).

Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture” (John 10:9).

In the Gospel of John, John declares: “He that believes on the Son of God (Jesus) has the witness in himself: he that believes not God has made him a liar; because he believed not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son hath life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not life” (1 John 5:10-12).

God is saying that if you reject that Jesus is our Savior if we believe that God sent him to save us, then you are calling God a liar. A person who “has the Son” is a person who believes on him, and someone that “does not have the Son of God” is the one that does not believe. There is no other way of salvation than to put your faith in Jesus Christ and to receive him as your only Savior.

Why Is Jesus the Only Way?

Jesus was “chosen by God” to be the Savior (1 Peter 2:4). Jesus came down from heaven for the purpose of saving humanity and has returned there (John 3:13). He is the only sinless person. He lived a perfect human life (Hebrews 4:15). He is the only sacrifice for sin (1 John 2:2; Hebrews 10:26). He alone fulfilled the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 5:17). He is the only man to have conquered death forever (Hebrews 2:14–15). He is the only Mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). He is the only man whom God has “exalted ... to the highest place” (Philippians 2:9). God chose us to be in Jesus as our Savior before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:3-7).

Why does man need a Savior?

God is a Sprit and not a man. He is infinitely holy, without any sin or wrong. Perfectly perfect and absolutely absolute in every characteristic. He is infinitely eternal, and his existence is not measured in time or space (Jeremiah 23:23-24; Psalm 139:7-12; Isaiah 48:5-8; 46:9-10). He is all powerful (omnipotent) (Job 42:2; Genesis 18:14). He is all knowing (omniscient) and his knowledge is inclusive of past, present and future and is complete (Proverbs 15:3; Proverbs 5:21; Psalm 147:4; Romans 11:33; Matthew 10:29). He is perfectly just and righteous and true in all of His ways. He is not localized and has access to the whole of all creation at all times (Habakkuk 1:12; Psalm 90:2; 139:7-12; Acts 17:24-28). He is sovereign as the Supreme Being and Ruler of the universe, is total and absolute, and is in control of all things (Ephesians 1:11) He is totally indescribable on mankind's level.
